The Hillsborough Baseball League (HBL) is an independent, non-profit youth organization serving the community of Hillsborough, NJ since 1955. Our organization is sustained by the dedication of our members who volunteer their time as managers, coaches, team parents, board members, committee members and concession stand staff. We currently offer both a recreational and competitive baseball programs and we are proud members of the Babe Ruth Baseball League.
The Hillsborough Baseball Willow Road Baseball Complex features seven (7) pristine baseball fields. Our teams also play on several fields throughout Hillsborough. Our complex also features an outstanding concession stand. The Spring session begins with Opening Day ceremonies and concludes with our Annual Family Day which includes fun activities for all.
HBL offers recreational baseball programs in the spring, summer and fall. Our goal is to provide a environment where all children can develop their baseball skills while having a fun experience being part of a team. During the 2014 Spring season we had 650 children from over 5000 families on teams from ages 5 through 18. Through our Buddy League, we also provide one the area's only baseball leagues for mentally and physically challenged youths. Managers and coaches of all teams are expected to provide proper instruction and guidance while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and fun.
HBL includes competitive travel baseball teams for those baseball players who take their skills to the next level. During the fall we hold tryouts for our 9U through 14U teams conducted by independent evaluators. These teams begin practice in the following winter and compete in tournaments and travel leagues during the Spring and Summer. In the spring we also form 7U and 8U teams that play in Summer Tournaments. In recent years several of our teams have been crowned Babe Ruth District 10 Champions and advanced to the Northern NJ State Tournament. In 2014 our 12U team won it's 3rd consecutive District 10 Championships, and our 14U team earned an at-large bid into the Northern NJ State Tournament for the second straight year. Additional information can be found under Travel Teams.
HBL hosts two Summer Tournaments, attracting both A and B level teams from many of the surrounding towns. Our 2014 summer tournaments hosted over 65 teams. In 2014 we also hosted the 12U and 14U District 10 Babe Ruth League Tournaments. Additional information can be found under Tournaments.
HBL also offers indoor winter training sessions taught by Hillsborough HS Coach Eric Eden for our members who want to prepare for the upcoming season. This program is provided at a fraction of the cost of those conducted by local training facilities. Just before the start of the spring season we hold training for our coaches, also conducted by Coach Eden and his Staff. Professional instructors are also employed to conduct our "Sunday Program" clinics during the season for our 7-8 year old players and parents. The Sunday Program, and the Coach’s Clinic, are provided at no cost to our league members.
